Volzhsky University after V.N. Tatischev is a non-state higher educational institution (state license, state accreditation).

Today VUiT possesses great research potential. The staff represented by 41 Doctors of sciences and 115 Ph.D. Various scientific areas are actively developed by the leading researchers of the University involving staff of each department.
It is a tradition now for the University to yearly hold an international scientific practical conference “Tatischev readings: issues of the day for science and practice”, where we invite the researchers from foreign countries as well as from leading educational institutions from Russia. The conference usually results in publication of collected reports and theses of the participants. Besides, the University regularly publishes “The Reporter of VUiT”, the series as follows: law, philosophy, history, informatics, philology, ecology, economics. They publish scientific articles by professors, post-graduates and students. In 2005 VUiT published scientific articles 270,3 sheets and 12 monographs 131,3 sheets.
The outlook for 2006-2010 is a great research extension of the staff and students of the University, in particular 15 works for Doctor degree, and 25 works for Ph.D. are on schedule to be presented.
VUiT co-operates with the Financial Academy to Russian government, with Moscow State University, with Moscow State Technical University after N.E. Bauman, with Kazan State University, with Saratov State Academy of Law, with Samara State University, with Samara State Academy of Economics, with Rostov State Academy of Economics.
Number of students in the University is about 5000 people, among them 1148 people are first-year students.
Computer and information base of the University is provided with the up-to-date educational and experimental technique connected to the Internet. Volzhsky University has a proper TV studio.
