INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF FOREST ECOLOGY
11-17 September 2011
The faculty of Ecology is proud of its teaching staff which includes such research scholars as G.M. Rozenberg, Dr. of Biology, corresponding member of RAS, Director of the Institute of Ecology of Volga basin of RAS, Yu.P. Krasnobayev, PhD in Biology, Director of Zhigulevsk State Nature Protection Forest, A.E. Gubernatorov, Director of the National Park «Samarskaya Luka».
For years the stuff and students of Ecological Faculty have been carrying out researches of the man's impact on forest ecosystems. Currently a great experience has been gained to diagnose ways of impact and forest cenosis deterioration. Suburb and city forests of Togliatti and forests of the National Park «Samarskaya Luka» are the model sites to carry out researches. The main ways to impact the forest ecosystems are:
impact of recreation
impact of creeping fires
impact of vehicle emissions
impact of enterprises emissions, etc.
These kinds of human activity impact all components of forest ecosystems. At the same time some plants are more sensitive to the man's impact than the others. A number of species, groups of species and classes can be used to indicate man's impact and to monitor the condition of forest ecosystems.
The aim of the School
Sudy of man's impact on ecosystems.
Objectives of the school
introduction of visible indication methods of various kinds of man's impact on forest ecosystems
evaluation of the force of man's impact based on evaluation of separate components of forest ecosystems
study of bioindicational potencies of some plants and animals
Within the studies it is planned to cover topics as follows:
Indication of man's impact on forest ecosystems and evaluation of amount of forest ecosystems transformation
Pyrogenic impact on forest ecosystems and the short-term/long-term effect thereof
Recreation impact on forest ecosystems, indication of the force of impact, critical stage criteria
Impact of air pollution on forest ecosystems and on separate components thereof
Qualitative and quantitative reactions of biota to man's impact
Practical training will be given in the territory of the health centre «Russiky Bor», Zhigulevsk State Nature Protection Forest, the National Park «Samarskaya Luka». The teaching staff is of the Ecological Faculty.
